Fall 2020 Reading Series This page contains events that are part of the developmental and staged reading series, programs for plays that are closer to theater-ready, having progressed beyond scene nights.
All readings are free to PCSF members. Virtual readings are free. We welcome donations. October 18, 2020 Earthquake Weather Register for Earthquake Weather 2:30 pm PT Special time! San Francisco: Astronomical rents. San Andreas Fault. Elves. Shoemaking, home-wrecking elves. Four women – a long-term couple and two friends – face crossroads in their relationships during the San Francisco housing crisis of the late twenty-teens. Chas Belov's (he/him) one-act version of The Making of Medea's Medea had a festival production by Theatre Three, Port Jefferson, NY. His full-lengths Hemlock, Evil Fan, and a full-length Medea have been finalist or semi-finalist in various festivals. These and Rice Kugel and My Visit to America have had staged readings at Playwrights' Center of San Francisco (PCSF). His short plays and monologues have been produced across the US and anthologized. Chas is a member of PCSF, the Dramatists Guild and Theatre Bay Area (ATLAS playwright). October 25, 2020 ZAM 2:30 pm PT Special time! Carolyn Faraday is an attorney representing a young black man accused of raping a drunken fourteen year old girl. He claims he is innocent. As she digs into the case, other witnesses and suspects have differing views of what really happened. As she struggles to find the truth, her own domestic relationship is falling apart. Karen Marguerite Caronna is a Bay Area writer and actor. She is a Brady Fellow with 3Girls Theater. A short play Jo, Full of Beans was produced in the Repro Rights Festival. She has had short pieces published in Rat's Ass Review and Gemini. A California native, she makes her home in Oakland. Updated 9/22/2020
