spring 2011 staged Rehearsal and Saturday Read-THroughs Series

This page contains events that are part of the early-development Staged Rehearsal and Saturday Read-Throughs series, programs that are midway between a scene night and the staged and developmental reading series.

  • Staged Rehearsals are an afternoon of three 50-minute rehearsals of 10-minute scenes from plays by a director and actors. In order to allow the actors to take risks, staged rehearsals are open to PCSF members only.
  • Saturday Read-Throughs are unrehearsed cold-readings by actors.

Members are encouraged to attend.

Because Sister Nan Says Its So
by Vaughn Hovanassian

Wilbur Spills the Beans
by Dennis Campagna

Love Birds
by Rod McFadden

Saturday Read-Throughs

Sister Nan... is a one act play about an aging nun trying to grab onto life and happiness. Touching peoples lives in her own way, she's rather "touched" herself.

In Wilbur Spills the Beans, Wilber writes crazy stories based on his eccentric family's experiences. He turns cousin Egbert's near-death story into a joke. Here's what really happened.

In Love Birds, a similar weekly routine brings two strangers together each Friday afternoon. Over the course of weeks, they learn that happiness shared is richer than happiness in solitude.

My Visit to America
by Chas Belov
Saturday Read-Through

In a world of today that is not our world, Eurasia is run by the Mongolian Empire and America is run by indigenous Americans. Jochi, a London bureaucrat, tries to cheat and bully his way into a trade deal between London and Miami. Instead, he encounters an interrogation in America; a test of friendship back home; and the discovery of where he fits in the scheme of race, class, and world politics.

Chas Belov's full-length plays Rice Kugel and Hemlock have had staged readings at PCSF. His 10-minute play On the Last Day of the Week in the Seventh Month of the Year in the City of Brotherly Love was produced by PCSF as part of its Sheherezade short play festival. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild. Visit his playwriting blog at chasbelov.com.
